Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle

 Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle

In 1927 a German physicist Werner Heisenberg give uncertainty principle which is a result of dual behaviour of matter and radiation.

It state that it is impossible to measure momentum and

position of electron at same time.

For example if we try to measure position using electron gun , ray of electron gun is fall on electron so it result change the velocity and then change in momentum.

So that we couldn't measure momentum (velocity) and position at same time.

Heisenberg give mathematical statement for find momentum and position if any one of them known.

∆x.∆P >= h/4Ï€

∆x.m∆v >= h/4Ï€    [∆P = m∆v]

Where,

h = Planck's constant= 6.626 × 10-34

∆x = uncertainty in position

∆P = uncertainty in momentum

∆v = uncertainty in velocity

m = mass of electron
